CorrectForm.
50 KB target

Compress a photo to under 50 KB.

Quick answer

Set 50 KB, drop the photo and press Compress. A 12 megapixel phone photo cannot fit in 50 KB at full size, so the tool also scales it down and tells you the new pixel size. For a form that wants 20 to 50 KB, aim for about 45 KB so you stay inside both ends.

A JPG of 20 to 50 KB is the most common photo rule on the bank recruitment portals in our exam data. The railway boards use a ceiling just under 50 KB for signatures, with a high floor.

The tool keeps as many pixels as it can and lowers quality first. If your form also gives an exact pixel size, the 200 x 230 photo page fixes both at once.

The tool runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded. Updated 19 October 2026.

KB

The file will be at most 50,000 bytes, so it passes a 50 KB limit whether the portal counts 1 KB as 1,000 or 1,024 bytes.

How to use it

  1. Pick what you have: a photo or scan (JPG out), a PDF, or several photos to join into one PDF.
  2. Set the maximum file size to 50 KB. Use the number printed in your notice.
  3. Turn on black and white for a printed certificate or marksheet. Leave it off for your own photo.
  4. Drop the file and press Compress. The tool tries a lower JPG quality first and makes the image smaller only if it has to.
  5. Check the result: the size in KB and bytes, the pixels or pages, and whether the text still reads. Then download it.

Exams with a limit at this size

Photo capped at about 50 KB

Signature capped at about 50 KB

From each exam's latest notification in our data. When the form also fixes the pixel size, the exam page has a resizer set to both.

Tips

  • Type 45 instead of 50 when the notice says 20 to 50 KB. You stay clear of the top and far from the bottom.
  • For the railway signature, type 49. The limit there stops just under 50 KB.
  • Stand against a plain light wall. A patterned background eats into the 50 KB and makes the face softer.
  • Keep colour on for your photo. Black and white is for printed documents.

Other sizes

Need exact pixels as well as KB? Use the photo and signature resizer.

Frequently asked questions

How do I stay between 20 and 50 KB?
Set the maximum to about 45 KB. The tool only enforces the maximum, so if your photo comes out very small, use the 200 x 230 resizer, which also has a minimum.
Why did my photo get smaller in pixels?
A full phone photo is about 4000 x 3000 pixels, and no JPG that large fits in 50 KB. The tool scales it down until it fits and shows the size it reached.
Is my file uploaded to your server?
No. The compressing happens in your browser on your own phone or computer. The file is never sent anywhere, and closing the tab removes it.
Why is my file a little under the number I typed?
Some portals count 1 KB as 1,000 bytes and others as 1,024. The tool keeps the file under the 1,000-byte reading, so a 20 KB file here is at most 20,000 bytes and passes either check.
