500 KB target

Compress your documents to a PDF under 500 KB.

Quick answer

Set 500 KB, drop the PDF or the photos of each page, and press Compress. Four or five clear A4 pages fit under 500 KB. The new PDF keeps the original page size, so A4 stays A4.

The IBPS PO/MT-XVI notice asks for certificates as A4 PDFs no larger than 500 KB, and SBI specialist officer advertisements set the same limit for every document except the photo and signature.

Both notices suggest lowering the scan DPI or the colours when a file is too big. The tool does that after the scan: it tries a plain re-save first, then redraws the pages at a lower resolution until the PDF is under 500 KB.

The tool runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded. Updated 19 October 2026.

KB

The file will be at most 5,00,000 bytes, so it passes a 500 KB limit whether the portal counts 1 KB as 1,000 or 1,024 bytes.

How to use it

  1. Pick what you have: a photo or scan (JPG out), a PDF, or several photos to join into one PDF.
  2. Set the maximum file size to 500 KB. Use the number printed in your notice.
  3. Turn on black and white for a printed certificate or marksheet. Leave it off for your own photo.
  4. Drop the file and press Compress. The tool tries a lower JPG quality first and makes the image smaller only if it has to.
  5. Check the result: the size in KB and bytes, the pixels or pages, and whether the text still reads. Then download it.

Tips

  • Scan the whole A4 page and crop to its edges, not to the text, so the PDF keeps the A4 shape both notices ask for.
  • Keep colour for a letterhead or stamp that matters. There is room in 500 KB for colour on one or two pages.
  • Railway notices use a different limit for documents. Type the number from your RRB notice into the size box.
  • Try the original first. Many PDFs saved from a computer are already under 500 KB.

Other sizes

Need exact pixels as well as KB? Use the photo and signature resizer.

Frequently asked questions

Does compressing change the page size?
No. A re-rendered PDF keeps each page at its original size in the PDF, so an A4 page stays A4. Only the image resolution inside it goes down.
Can I use this for other bank exams?
Yes, if the notice gives 500 KB. Change the size box to whatever your notice says; the tool works the same way at any limit.
Is my file uploaded to your server?
No. The compressing happens in your browser on your own phone or computer. The file is never sent anywhere, and closing the tab removes it.
Why is my file a little under the number I typed?
Some portals count 1 KB as 1,000 bytes and others as 1,024. The tool keeps the file under the 1,000-byte reading, so a 20 KB file here is at most 20,000 bytes and passes either check.
