What do your marks become after normalization?
Multi-shift exams normalize raw marks so no shift is advantaged by an easier paper. This calculator applies the officially published SSC formula (7 February 2019) — the same style of formula RRB publishes in its CENs — exactly as written, to 5 decimal places. No prediction, no estimates: a deterministic calculation from the published statistics.
Where do the statistics come from?
The formula needs your shift's mean, standard deviation and top-0.1% average, plus the same figures across all shifts. These are the authority's numbers — candidates cannot compute them themselves. They surface in RTI responses, official disclosures, and community reconstructions after marks are published. This tool does the arithmetic; it does not guess the inputs.
SSC exams notified after 1 June 2025
SSC announced a revised normalization procedure — an equi-percentile method — for examinations notified after 1 June 2025 (published on ssc.gov.in). That method maps each shift's percentiles onto a common marks scale using the full score distribution, so it cannot be reproduced from summary statistics — no honest calculator can compute it. For those exams, treat this tool as an illustration of the earlier method only. The 2019 formula above still applies to SSC exams notified before May 2025 and mirrors the formula RRB publishes in its Centralised Employment Notices.
