Why mask your Aadhaar
A masked Aadhaar hides the first eight digits and shows only the last four. That is enough for identity proof, and your full number stays private, which is why UIDAI promotes it. When a form asks for an ID copy and you don't want your full number sitting on a portal, upload a masked version.

Why doing it in the browser matters
