200 KB target

Compress a PDF or photo to under 200 KB.

Quick answer

Set 200 KB, pick PDF, photo, or photos to one PDF, and press Compress. Two or three printed A4 pages usually fit under 200 KB with black and white on. The tool keeps the file under 200,000 bytes and shows the exact size.

The National Scholarship Portal says each document for its disability schemes must not exceed 200 KB, and accepts PDF or JPEG. Several exams in our data also cap the photo at 200 KB, listed below.

If you have photos of a certificate front and back, the "Photos to one PDF" tab puts them on A4 pages in one file under the limit.

The tool runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded. Updated 19 October 2026.

KB

The file will be at most 2,00,000 bytes, so it passes a 200 KB limit whether the portal counts 1 KB as 1,000 or 1,024 bytes.

How to use it

  1. Pick what you have: a photo or scan (JPG out), a PDF, or several photos to join into one PDF.
  2. Set the maximum file size to 200 KB. Use the number printed in your notice.
  3. Turn on black and white for a printed certificate or marksheet. Leave it off for your own photo.
  4. Drop the file and press Compress. The tool tries a lower JPG quality first and makes the image smaller only if it has to.
  5. Check the result: the size in KB and bytes, the pixels or pages, and whether the text still reads. Then download it.

Tips

  • Put the front and back of one certificate into one PDF with the "Photos to one PDF" tab, if the portal gives one slot for it.
  • Keep each certificate in its own file. Six certificates in one 200 KB file leave too little for any of them.
  • If the preview looks faint, compress again with black and white off. Some scanner apps already make grey text.
  • A PDF that is already under 200 KB can go up as it is. The tool tells you when that is the case.

Other sizes

Need exact pixels as well as KB? Use the photo and signature resizer.

Frequently asked questions

How many pages fit in a 200 KB PDF?
Two or three printed A4 pages usually fit with readable text when they are cropped and in black and white. Pages with colour photos or stamps take more room, so expect one or two.
Should I upload a JPG or a PDF?
Upload whichever the slot asks for. The NSP disability-scheme FAQ accepts either up to 200 KB; other portals take only PDF.
Is my file uploaded to your server?
No. The compressing happens in your browser on your own phone or computer. The file is never sent anywhere, and closing the tab removes it.
Why is my file a little under the number I typed?
Some portals count 1 KB as 1,000 bytes and others as 1,024. The tool keeps the file under the 1,000-byte reading, so a 20 KB file here is at most 20,000 bytes and passes either check.
