Correction window: what you can change, and what you can't
Don't fill a second form. Wait for the correction window, which opens after the last date and is the only official way to change a submitted form. In SSC CGL 2026 it ran for 3 days (29.06.2026 to 01.07.2026, 23:00). You could re-submit twice, paying ₹200 the first time and ₹500 the second, whatever your category, and the latest paid version replaced the old one. Only candidates whose form and fee had reached SSC could use it. On NTA exams like NEET and JEE Main, only "certain fields" open, and NTA announces which ones in a notice. Photo, signature and finger or thumb impressions can't be corrected there. Once the window shuts, no change is made by post, email or by hand.

Is this kit for you?
- You have already submitted and paid for a form, and found a wrong detail in it: a category, centre choice, qualification, or a typing slip in a field. (para 11.1, p.20; NEET p.9 para 16)
- You are about to fill a second form to fix the first one. Stop: a second form gets every application rejected on SSC exams, and NTA won't accept multiple forms either. (Important Instructions (j), p.50; NEET p.8)
- You corrected your SSC form once and spotted another mistake in the corrected version. (para 11.2, p.20)
- Did your form and fee actually reach the exam body? SSC lets only those candidates correct. If your printout says "Incomplete", sort out the payment first. (para 11.3, p.20; para 10.5, p.20)
- When does the window open and close? SSC prints the dates in the notice (CGL 2026: 29.06.2026 to 01.07.2026). NTA printed NEET (UG) 2026's as 10 to 12 March 2026; for JEE (Main) 2026 the bulletin said only that the dates would go up on the NTA website. (p.1; para 11, p.20; NEET p.2; JEE bulletin p.2)
- The mistake is in your photo, signature or finger and thumb impressions on an NTA form. NTA says it won't give a correction facility for these, so they had to be right before you submitted. (NEET p.16 note, p.19)
- The window has already closed. After it, no change is made in any form, and requests by post, fax, email or by hand are rejected. (para 11.9, p.21; JEE bulletin p.29 para 10)
- Your admit card shows a wrong detail or photo. That isn't a correction-window job: call the NTA helpline at once and sit the exam with the admit card you downloaded. (NEET p.44 para 6; JEE bulletin p.27)
When the window opens, and what it costs
- 1Window opensAfter the last date for applications. SSC CGL 2026: 29.06.2026
- 2Window closesSSC CGL 2026: 01.07.2026, 23:00. NEET (UG) 2026: 10 to 12 March 2026
- 31st re-submission (SSC)₹200 correction charge, every candidate
- 42nd re-submission (SSC)₹500 correction charge. No third chance
- 5After it closesNo change, correction or modification under any circumstances
The steps, in order
- 1
List every mistake before the window opens
Have ready: Your form printout or Confirmation Page, and the original certificates.
Go through the printout field by field against your Class 10 certificate, category certificate and other papers. SSC wants your name, date of birth, father's name and mother's name written exactly as in the matriculation certificate; a mismatch can cancel your candidature at Document Verification. Write down every field to fix, so you change them all in one go. (Important Instructions (m), p.51)
- 2
Check that you are allowed to correct
Have ready: Your Registration or Application Number and password.
Log in and confirm the form shows as submitted and paid. SSC opens the window only to candidates whose completed form and fee reached it within the deadline. On NTA forms, read NTA's notice for the window, because only the fields it lists can be edited. (para 11.3, p.20; NEET p.8; JEE bulletin p.3)
- 3
Make all the changes in one sitting
Have ready: Your list of mistakes and the correct details from the certificates.
SSC lets you correct and re-submit only twice, and the second time costs more. Fix every item on your list in the first attempt, then use the preview to check each field before you submit. (paras 11.2 and 11.9, pp.20-21)
- 4
Pay the correction charge online
Have ready: BHIM UPI, net banking, or a Visa, Mastercard, Maestro or RuPay debit card.
In SSC CGL 2026 the charge was ₹200 for the first re-submission and ₹500 for the second, for every candidate whatever their gender or category, even those who paid no exam fee. It can only be paid online and is never refunded. (paras 11.4-11.6, pp.20-21)
- 5
Check the status says the charge reached SSC
Have ready: Your login and the new printout.
If SSC doesn't receive the correction charge, the corrected form shows "Incomplete" at the top of its printout and is not accepted. Your earlier form then stays valid, mistakes and all. When the charge does arrive, the latest corrected form becomes the valid one and the earlier ones are cancelled. (paras 11.7-11.8, p.21)
- 6
Save the corrected printout and close the job
Have ready: A folder on your phone and access to a printer.
Download and print the corrected form and keep it with the payment proof. After the window closes, SSC refuses changes sent by post, fax, email or by hand, and NTA refuses them by post, fax, WhatsApp, email or by hand. (para 11.9, p.21; JEE bulletin p.29 para 10)
What the window won't fix
On NTA exams, the photograph, signature and finger and thumb impressions are outside the correction facility. The NEET (UG) 2026 bulletin says to upload them correctly "as the facility for correction will not be given". (NEET p.16 note)
NTA treats the details in a NEET form as final once the fee is paid and the Confirmation Page is generated, and changes them only in the permissible fields during the correction window. (NEET p.9 para 16)
On SSC, a request to change the mobile number or email address isn't entertained at a later stage, so enter ones you will keep using. (Important Instructions (p), p.52)
Why a second form makes it worse
SSC allows one application per candidate during the normal application period, and says that period doesn't include the correction window. If it finds more than one application with different registration numbers, it rejects all of them and cancels the candidature. (Important Instructions (j), p.50)
NTA doesn't accept multiple forms from one candidate either: in NEET (UG) 2026 they lead to the cancellation of candidature or result. (NEET p.8)
How a correction goes wrong
Every line below comes from SSC's or NTA's own rules.
- The correction charge never reached SSC. The corrected form shows "Incomplete" and is not accepted, so the old form with the mistake stays valid. (para 11.8, p.21)
- The first form or fee hadn't reached SSC in time. Only candidates whose completed form and fee were received can use the window. (para 11.3, p.20)
- Trying to correct a third time. SSC allows two re-submissions in the window and no more corrections under any circumstances. (para 11.2, p.20)
- Sending a correction request after the window closes. SSC summarily rejects requests by post, fax, email or by hand. (para 11.9, p.21)
- Leaving a name or date of birth that doesn't match the matriculation certificate. The candidature may be cancelled at Document Verification. (Important Instructions (m), p.51)
SSC and NTA run the window differently
| If you are | What changes |
|---|---|
| SSC exams (as in the CGL 2026 notice) | A fixed 3-day window after the closing date, with its dates printed in the notice. Two paid re-submissions (₹200, then ₹500); the latest paid version replaces the old one. Check each notice's own para for its dates and charges. (paras 11.1-11.7, pp.20-21) |
| NTA exams (NEET UG, JEE Main, CUET) | Only "certain fields" open, and NTA names them in its notice for the window. Photo, signature and finger or thumb impressions can't be corrected. JEE (Main) 2026 printed no dates in the bulletin, only that they would be shown on the NTA website. (NEET pp.8, 16; JEE bulletin pp.2-3) |
| Fee-exempt SSC candidates | No exam fee to pay, but the correction charge still applies to you: SSC charges it to all candidates whatever their gender or category. (para 11.4, p.20) |

Tips and tricks
- 1Check your form against your Class 10 certificate the day you submit, not the day the window opens, so you already know what to fix when it does.
- 2Put the window dates in your calendar when you apply. The window opens after the last date, when most people have stopped looking at the site.
- 3Fix everything in the first re-submission. On SSC the second costs more, and there is no third.
- 4Don't re-upload a photo or signature on an NTA form hoping the window will take it. NTA doesn't correct those, so get them right with our tools before you submit.
- 5After paying the correction charge, open the printout and look at the top. "Incomplete" means SSC didn't get the money, and your old form still counts.
Frequently asked questions
- I made a mistake in my submitted exam form. Can I fill a new one?
- No. SSC rejects all of a candidate's applications when it finds more than one with different registration numbers (CGL 2026 notice, Important Instructions (j), p.50), and NTA doesn't accept multiple forms either (NEET 2026 bulletin, p.8). Use the correction window instead.
- How much does SSC charge to correct the form?
- In SSC CGL 2026, ₹200 for the first corrected re-submission and ₹500 for the second, for every candidate regardless of gender or category (para 11.4, p.20). It is paid online only and never refunded (paras 11.5-11.6). Check your own exam's notice, as the amounts can change.
- How many times can I correct my SSC form?
- Twice in the window. If the first corrected version also has a mistake, you can re-submit once more; after that, no more corrections are allowed under any circumstances (CGL 2026 notice, para 11.2, p.20).
- Can I change my photo or signature in the NTA correction window?
- No. The NEET (UG) 2026 bulletin says to upload the correct photograph, signature and finger and thumb impressions "as the facility for correction will not be given" (p.16). Only the fields NTA lists in its correction notice can be edited.
- Which fields can I correct on NEET or JEE Main?
- Only "certain fields", which NTA announces in its notice for the correction window (NEET 2026 bulletin, p.8; JEE (Main) 2026 bulletin, p.3). Read that notice on the exam's NTA site when the window opens; the list isn't fixed in the bulletin.
- I paid the correction charge but the form still says "Incomplete". What happens?
- SSC hasn't received the charge, so the corrected form isn't accepted and your earlier form stays valid (CGL 2026 notice, para 11.8, p.21). Check the payment while the window is still open, or the mistake stays in the form.
