For the Joint CSIR-UGC National Eligibility Test (CSIR NET) December 2026, the photo should be about 200×230 pixels, 10–200 KB, in JPG format on a white background. The signature should be about 140×60 pixels and 10–50 KB. Resize yours with the tool above. It's free and runs in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.
The notice gives a range or a physical size, not one exact pixel size. Treat these dimensions as a target and check the notes and the quoted notice text below.
NTA gives no pixel size, only 10 to 200 KB as a JPG/JPEG. The scanned photo must be a recent colour passport-size photo on a white background, with your face (ears showing, no mask) filling about 80% of it. You also take a live photo while filling the form, so the scanned upload is needed as well. The December 2026 form is open from 7 October to 5 November 2026 (late fee of Rs 500 up to 9 November).

JPG/JPEG, 10 to 50 KB, clearly legible. NTA gives no pixel size; about 140 x 60 px in black ink on white paper keeps it sharp and well under the cap.

About the CSIR NET application form
The Joint CSIR-UGC National Eligibility Test (CSIR NET) December 2026 is conducted by the National Testing Agency. The online application portal has strict requirements for photo and signature uploads — images outside the specified dimensions or file size are automatically rejected.
For the photograph, you need a colour image of about 200×230 pixels with file size between 10 KB and 200 KB, saved in JPG format with a white background. The signature should be about 140×60 pixels and between 10 and 50 KB.
Common reasons CSIR NET forms get rejected
- File size over 200 KB (most common — phone photos are often 2–5 MB).
- Dimensions far from about 200×230 pixels.
- Coloured or patterned background — the form asks for a plain white background.
- Wrong file format. The notice asks for JPG.
- Signature on lined or coloured paper instead of plain white.
Tips and tricks for the CSIR NET upload
- 1CSIR NET takes a live photo while you fill the form and also wants a scanned colour passport photo, 10 to 200 KB, on a white background.
- 2The CSIR NET bulletin asks for a colour photo, so black and white won't do here (UGC NET accepts either).
- 3Keep your face, ears showing and no mask, at about 80% of the frame in both the live and the scanned photo.
- 4The signature must be 10 to 50 KB. Sign in black ink on white paper and crop close before you resize.
- 5Bring two extra passport photos, the same as the one you uploaded, to the exam centre.
