The notice gives a range or a physical size, not one exact pixel size. Treat these dimensions as a target and check the notes and the quoted notice text below.
SSC specifies ~6.0 cm × 2.0 cm, black ink on white; signature must fill ≥80% of the box. Operative limit: 10–20 KB JPG. Candidates are advised to cut the box and then sign within the box such that the signature occupies at least 80% of the box. SSC says the major reason for rejection is "miniature" signatures, so crop tight to the box before resizing. Over 20 KB? Crop away the white margin and lower the JPG quality; do not shrink the signature itself. Under 10 KB? Re-scan or re-photograph in good light instead of stretching a tiny image. Save as .jpg (not .png or .heic). The photo is taken live on the form, so if it is rejected, retake it against a plain background in a well-lit place. SSC lists caps, no shirt, dim light and blur as rejection reasons.

SSC CGL 2026 eligibility, age limit and posts
As per the SSC Combined Graduate Level Examination, 2026 (Notice F. No. HQ-C11018/1/2026-C-1) (21 May 2026), checked on 1 October 2026.
SSC CGL is one exam, but the age limit isn't one number. It depends on the post. Tax Assistant and Auditor take you only up to 27. Most Inspector and Assistant Section Officer posts go up to 30, and Junior Statistical Officer goes up to 32. Everything below comes from the SSC notice of 21 May 2026, with the page number against each fact so you can check it yourself.
Applications for CGL 2026 closed on 22 June 2026. SSC scheduled Tier-I for August-September 2026 and Tier-II for December 2026 (tentative dates, notice page 1). The notice lists about 12,256 tentative vacancies; SSC posts updated post-wise numbers on its Tentative Vacancy page.

- ·SSC counts age on 1 August 2026 and checks it against the date-of-birth window for each band. If you turn 27 exactly on 1 August 2026, you are out for the 18-27 posts, because that window starts on 2 August 1999. (p6, para 5.1)
- ·SSC goes by the date of birth in your Class 10 (matriculation) certificate. It can't be changed after you apply. (p8, para 5.3)
- ·Relaxation only raises the upper age limit. The notice has no code 07 and no EWS relaxation. (p7-8, para 5.2)

For almost every post you need a bachelor's degree in any subject from a recognised university. Two posts are stricter: Junior Statistical Officer and Statistical Investigator Grade-II. The Assistant Audit Officer and Assistant Accounts Officer posts in the State Cadre also need the state's language at Class 10 level.
- Assistant Audit Officer (Central Cadre)
- Bachelor's degree from a recognised university or institute. Desirable: CA, CMA, CS, M.Com, Masters in Business Studies, MBA (Finance) or Masters in Business Economics. You must pass the Subordinate Audit/Accounts Service Examination during probation. (p14-15, para 8.1.1)
- Assistant Audit Officer and Assistant Accounts Officer (State Cadre)
- Bachelor's degree, plus proficiency in the state's regional or official language at matriculation level, shown by a Secondary School level certificate from a recognised board. The desirable qualifications and the probation exam are the same as for the Central Cadre. (p15-16, para 8.1.2-8.1.3)
- Junior Statistical Officer
- Bachelor's degree in any subject with at least 60% in Mathematics in Class 12, or a bachelor's degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects. (p16, para 8.2.1)
- Statistical Investigator Grade-II
- Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Demography, Population Studies, Operation Research, Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Technology, Computer Application, Data Science or Artificial Intelligence. (p16, para 8.3.1)
- All other posts
- Bachelor's degree from a recognised university, or equivalent. (p16, para 8.4.1)
Nationality: Citizen of India, a subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or a person of Indian origin who migrated from one of the countries the notice lists. The last three need a certificate of eligibility from the Government of India. (p6, para 4.1-4.2)

Posts, pay level and age band
The notice gives the basic pay range for each level. What you take home also depends on DA and on HRA, and HRA changes with the city you're posted to. Some posts have physical and medical standards: CBIC Inspectors, Inspector and Sub-Inspector in CBN, Sub-Inspector/JIO in NCB, Sub-Inspector in CBI and NIA, and UDC/SSA in BRO. About the SSC CGL application form
The SSC Combined Graduate Level Examination is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission. The online application portal has strict requirements for photo and signature uploads — images outside the specified dimensions or file size are automatically rejected.
The photograph is captured live by the online application (or the authority's app) — you don't upload or resize a photo. The signature should be about 140×60 pixels and between 10 and 20 KB in black ink.
Common reasons SSC CGL forms get rejected
- A live photo that breaks the photo rules in the notice.
- Live photo taken against a background the notice does not allow.
- A cap or mask in the live photo.
- Live photo too dark or blurred.
- Wrong file format. The notice asks for JPG.
- Signature on lined or coloured paper instead of plain white.
Tips and tricks for the SSC CGL upload
- 1Draw a box about 6 cm wide and 2 cm high on plain white paper and sign inside it in black ink. SSC wants the signature to cover at least 80% of the box.
- 2Crop right up to the edge of the box before you resize. A wide white margin makes the ink look tiny at about 140×60 pixels, and SSC rejects "miniature" signatures.
- 3Over 20 KB? Lower the JPG quality; don't shrink the signature. Under 10 KB? Scan or photograph it again in daylight instead of stretching a small image.
- 4Phones often save as .heic or .png. Check that the file name ends in .jpg before you upload it to the SSC CGL form.
- 5For the live photo, face a plain wall in good light, wear a shirt, and take off any cap, mask or glasses. SSC lists caps, no shirt, dim light and blur as reasons it rejects photos.
