Age limit calculator with category relaxation
Enter your date of birth and category. The calculator checks it against every age band in the exam's official notice, adds your category's relaxation to the upper limit, and tells you whether you're in, and by how much. For SSC CGL 2026, age is counted on 1 August 2026, and someone who turns 27 on that day is already out of the 18-27 posts.

Relaxations this calculator does not work out
These depend on your service record or on a fixed age that the notice states without a date-of-birth window, so check them against the notice yourself.

How the age limit is counted
Each age band in a notice comes with a date-of-birth window. SSC CGL 2026 opens the 18-27 posts to people born from 2 August 1999 to 1 August 2008, with age counted on 1 August 2026. So the upper limit means you must not have turned 27 by the cut-off. If your 27th birthday falls on 1 August 2026, you miss out by one day. The calculator uses the same rule for every band and shows the window it used, so you can match it to the notice.
What relaxation changes
Relaxation only raises the upper limit. The CGL notice gives OBC candidates 3 extra years and SC/ST candidates 5, so an OBC candidate can apply for the 18-27 posts if born on or after 2 August 1996. The lower limit stays where it was. The notice gives EWS no age relaxation.
Which exams are in it
We add an exam here only after checking its age rules line by line against the official notice, with the page number noted. SSC CGL is the first, and we'll add more as we check their notices. For your age on any other date, use the age calculator.

Frequently asked questions
- Is the cut-off day itself counted?
- Yes. Both ends of the date-of-birth window count. For the SSC CGL 18-27 posts, someone born on 2 August 1999 is eligible and someone born on 1 August 1999 is not, because they turn 27 on the cut-off date.
- Which categories does it calculate?
- Every relaxation the notice gives as a fixed number of years, such as SC/ST, OBC and PwBD. Ex-servicemen relaxation depends on your length of service, and some codes give a fixed age instead of extra years, so the calculator lists those for you to check in the notice.
