These rules come from the 2024 notice, the latest constable notice WBPRB has published; the Kolkata Police Constable/Lady Constable 2024 notice uses the same wording. When a new notice comes out, check it before you apply.
Sign your full name in running hand on white paper and scan it as a JPG between 5 and 20 KB at 350 × 63 px (9.2 cm wide × 1.7 cm high). WBPRB can reject the form if the signature does not match the name you entered. WBPRB does not ask for a thumb impression.

About the WB Police Constable application form
The West Bengal Police Constable Recruitment (WBPRB) is conducted by the West Bengal Police Recruitment Board. The online application portal has strict requirements for photo and signature uploads — images outside the specified dimensions or file size are automatically rejected.
For the photograph, you need a colour image of 138×177 pixels with file size between 10 KB and 50 KB, saved in JPG format with a white background. The signature must be 350×63 pixels and between 5 and 20 KB.
Common reasons WB Police Constable forms get rejected
- File size over 50 KB (most common — phone photos are often 2–5 MB).
- Dimensions not exactly 138×177 pixels.
- Coloured or patterned background — the form asks for a plain white background.
- Wrong file format. The notice asks for JPG.
- Signature on lined or coloured paper instead of plain white.
