Why exam photo specs are so strict
Indian government portals use automated image verification systems that reject uploads failing even by a few pixels or kilobytes. SSC typically requires 200×230 pixels under 50 KB; UPSC asks for 350×350 pixels up to 300 KB; RRB NTPC uses 320×240. A rejected form during application season can cost you an entire exam cycle.
How this tool works
Pick your exam and the tool shows its rules: pixel size, KB range, format, and the notice they come from. Drop your photo and a crop box opens in the exam's own shape, so nothing gets stretched. Drag it until the head sits inside the dotted oval, with the chin on the solid line. The brightness, contrast, exposure and sharpen sliders fix a dull or dark photo, and Auto fix sets them for you. The tool then tries JPG quality settings until the file lands inside the KB range, and checks the finished file's pixels, KB, format and shape. All of it runs in your browser.

Frequently asked questions
- Which exams does the photo resizer have presets for?
- 20+ Indian government exams — SSC CGL/CHSL/GD, UPSC CSE/NDA/CDS, IBPS PO/Clerk, SBI PO/Clerk, RRB NTPC/Group D/ALP, NEET UG, JEE Main, CTET and more. Pick your exam from the dropdown and the exact pixel dimensions and KB limits are applied automatically.
- Can it resize a signature as well as a photo?
- Yes — switch to signature mode and the tool applies your exam's signature spec (for example 140×60 pixels) instead of the photo spec.
- How does it hit an exact file size like 20 to 50 KB?
- It crops and resizes to the exact pixels first, then tries JPG quality settings until the file sits inside the KB range, a little below the top so it passes whether the portal counts 1 KB as 1,000 or 1,024 bytes. If a clean file is still under the minimum, it adds blank data inside the file; the picture doesn't change.
- My full-length photo came out with a tiny face. How do I fix it?
- Open it here and drag the corners of the crop box in until the head fills the dotted oval. The box keeps the exam's shape, so you get a head-and-shoulders photo at the right size instead of a whole body squeezed into 200 by 230 pixels.
- What do the passes and warnings in the output check mean?
- The tool measures the hard checks from the finished file: format, file size, pixel size, shape, and DPI where the notice states one. A pass there means the file meets the numbers in the notice. The checks can't tell whether the portal's own staff will like the photo, so check the face and background by eye too.
