Make a 3.5 × 4.5 cm passport size photo.
A 3.5 × 4.5 cm photo at 300 dpi is 413 × 531 pixels, the same thing as 35 × 45 mm. That is what this page makes by default: a JPG in the exact print proportions on a white background, for a form that asks in centimetres or for printing at a photo shop.
Exam portals rarely want those pixels, though. Several bank notices describe the photo as 3.5 × 4.5 cm and then check for a 200 × 230 px upload of 20 to 50 KB. GATE also asks for a 3.5 × 4.5 cm photo but accepts anything from 200 × 260 to 530 × 690 px. When a notice gives a pixel size, the portal checks the pixels, so match those.

Tips for this size
- Uploading and printing are different jobs. For the online form, match the pixel rule. For paper copies to paste on an admit card or an offline form, the Photo Print Sheet tool tiles 3.5 × 4.5 cm copies on a 4 × 6 inch sheet.
- Crop so your face fills most of the frame. NTA, for one, asks for the face to cover 80 percent of the photo, and a loose crop is the usual reason a centimetre-sized photo looks wrong.
- The default cap here is 200 KB. Lower the Max KB box if your form sets a smaller limit; at 413 × 531 px there is plenty of room to go down.
- Scanning a printed photo? Scan at 300 dpi or more and crop to the photo edge, so the tool gets the full 3.5 × 4.5 cm area to work with.
