SSC specifies ~6.0 cm × 2.0 cm, black ink on white; signature must fill ≥80% of the box. Operative limit: 10–20 KB JPG. Candidates are advised to cut the box and then sign within the box such that the signature occupies at least 80% of the box. SSC says the major reason for rejection is "miniature" signatures, so crop tight to the box before resizing. Over 20 KB? Crop away the white margin and lower the JPG quality; do not shrink the signature itself. Under 10 KB? Re-scan or re-photograph in good light instead of stretching a tiny image. Save as .jpg (not .png or .heic). The photo is taken live on the form, so if it is rejected, retake it against a plain background in a well-lit place. SSC lists caps, no shirt, dim light and blur as rejection reasons.

SSC GD Constable 2026 eligibility, age limit and posts
As per the SSC Constable (GD) in CAPFs and SSF, and Rifleman (GD) in Assam Rifles Examination, 2026 (F. No. HQ-C-3007/10/2025-C-3) (1 December 2025), checked on 9 October 2026.
SSC GD 2026 recruits Constables (General Duty) for BSF, CISF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB and the Secretariat Security Force, and Riflemen (General Duty) for Assam Rifles. You need a Class 10 pass and must be 18 to 23 on 1 January 2026. Everything below comes from the SSC notice of 1 December 2025, with the page number against each fact.
Applications for the 2026 cycle closed on 31 December 2025 at 11 pm, and the correction window ran from 8 to 10 January 2026. SSC set the computer-based exam for February to April 2026. When we checked on 9 October 2026, the 2027 notice wasn't on the SSC notice board yet. The 2026 notice went up on 1 December 2025, but we won't guess a date for the next one. You need a Class 10 (Matriculation) pass from a recognised board, with the result declared on or before 1 January 2026. A result still being processed on that date doesn't count. Persons with disabilities can't apply for this exam.

Nationality: A citizen of India. Vacancies are split by state, UT and area, so you also need a domicile certificate or permanent residence certificate (PRC) for the state you pick in the form. - ·Men need a chest of 80 cm unexpanded with at least 5 cm expansion: 76 cm for Scheduled Tribes, 78 cm for the Garhwali, Kumaoni, Dogra, Maratha, Assam, Himachal, J&K and Ladakh group, and 77 cm for the North-Eastern states and the GTA. SSC doesn't measure chest for women. (p19, para 12.5.2)
- ·The race is qualifying and has no appeal. Men run 5 km in 24 minutes and women 1.6 km in 8½ minutes. In the Ladakh region it is 1.6 km in 7 minutes for men and 800 m in 5 minutes for women. Ex-servicemen skip the race and the height and chest test, but they still take the medical. (p17, para 12.3-12.4)
- ·NCC certificate holders get bonus marks: 5% of the maximum for a C certificate, 3% for B and 2% for A. The certificate must be dated on or before 1 January 2026, and you have to claim it in the form. (p8, para 7.5)
Posts, pay level and age band
Every post is at Pay Level 3, ₹21,700 to ₹69,100 basic pay; DA and other allowances come on top and depend on the force and the posting. Vacancies by force (men + women): CISF 14,595, CRPF 5,490, SSB 1,764, Assam Rifles 1,706, ITBP 1,293, BSF 616, SSF 23. SSF posts are filled on an all-India basis and the rest state by state. Selected candidates can be posted anywhere in India, and SSC keeps no waiting list. The CBE is one paper of 80 questions for 160 marks in 60 minutes, with 0.25 marks off per wrong answer. To reach the race and height test you need 30% in the CBE (UR), 25% (OBC and EWS) or 20% (others). (p2-3, para 2-3.6; p15-16, para 12.1; p23, para 14.2)

About the SSC GD Constable application form
The SSC General Duty Constable Examination is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission. The online application portal has strict requirements for photo and signature uploads — images outside the specified dimensions or file size are automatically rejected.
The photograph is captured live by the online application (or the authority's app) — you don't upload or resize a photo. The signature should be about 140×60 pixels and between 10 and 20 KB in black ink.
Common reasons SSC GD Constable forms get rejected
- A live photo that breaks the photo rules in the notice.
- Live photo taken against a background the notice does not allow.
- A cap or mask in the live photo.
- Live photo too dark or blurred.
- Wrong file format. The notice asks for JPG.
- Signature on lined or coloured paper instead of plain white.
Tips and tricks for the SSC GD Constable upload
- 1Draw a box about 6 cm wide and 2 cm high on plain white paper and sign inside it in black ink. SSC wants the signature to cover at least 80% of the box.
- 2Crop right up to the edge of the box before you resize. A wide white margin makes the ink look tiny at about 140×60 pixels, and SSC rejects "miniature" signatures.
- 3Over 20 KB? Lower the JPG quality; don't shrink the signature. Under 10 KB? Scan or photograph it again in daylight instead of stretching a small image.
- 4Phones often save as .heic or .png. Check that the file name ends in .jpg before you upload it to the SSC GD form.
- 5For the live photo, face a plain wall in good light, wear a shirt, and take off any cap, mask or glasses. SSC lists caps, no shirt, dim light and blur as reasons it rejects photos.
