Is this exam for you?
- You meet the age rule for at least one post as on 01.07.2026 and hold its qualification (SSLC for most Junior Assistant, Bill Collector and Typist posts, with typewriting or shorthand certificates where the post asks). (para 4.1-4.2, pp.5-15)
- You can read and write Tamil: Part A of the paper is a Tamil eligibility test, and Parts B and C are marked only if you score at least 60 of 150 in it. (para 6.1, p.20)
- Age limits change by post and by community. Find your post code in the table first. Where the table says "No maximum age limit", you must not have completed 60. (para 4.1, pp.5-8; 4.1.4, p.8)
- Forest Guard with Driving Licence and Forest Watcher need minimum height and chest measurements and, for Forest Guard, 6/6 vision without glasses. Pick "All the Posts" only if you meet them. (para 1.3.3, p.2; 4.3.2, p.15)
- Some posts are limited by religion: Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments posts need a Hindu candidate, and the Waqf Board Typist and Steno Typist posts need a Muslim candidate. (para 4.5.2-4.5.3, p.16)
- You are in the "Others" category and have already served five years or more in a central or state government service. (para 4.5.1, p.16)
- You are a person with blindness or low vision and want only Judicial Department or State Legal Services Authority posts: those posts are closed to these categories. (para 4.5.4, p.16)

The steps, in order
- 1
Create or open your One Time Registration (OTR)
Have ready: Aadhaar, your own email ID and mobile number, SSLC register number, certificate number, month and year of passing, medium and board.
Register once on www.tnpscexams.in for Rs.150; the OTR stays valid for five years. Linking Aadhaar is compulsory. Copy the SSLC details exactly from the mark sheet of the attempt in which you passed, because a wrong detail gets the application rejected at any stage. If you already have an OTR, log in and check every field, then fix it through OTR Edit before you start the application: OTR details fill the application automatically. (Annexure I, para 2.1-2.7, pp.23-24)
- 2
Get the studio photo with your name and date printed on it
Have ready: A visit to a photo studio on or after 06.10.2026.
Colour, passport size, white background, frontal view showing both ears and part of the neck, with your name and the date of photography printed at the bottom. The file is 4.5 cm high by 3.5 cm wide (170 x 130 pixels): 3.0 cm (115 px) of face and a 1.5 cm (55 px) strip with the name and date, saved as Photograph.jpg at 20-50 KB. A phone photo, selfie or photocopy is not allowed. (Annexure I, para 3.3-3.4, pp.24-25)
Resize the photo to the TNPSC preset → - 3
Sign inside a 6.0 x 2.0 cm box and scan it
Have ready: White paper, a ruler, a blue or black ink pen, a scanner set to 200 DPI.
Draw a 6.0 x 2.0 cm box (230 x 75 pixels), sign inside it, scan at 200 DPI and crop to the box. Save it as Signature.jpg at 10-20 KB. (Annexure I, para 3.5, p.25)
Resize the signature to the TNPSC preset → - 4
Fill the application: posts, community, exam centres
Have ready: Your post choice, community certificate details, two exam centre preferences (one if you are a person with benchmark disability).
Click APPLY against Notification 11/2026 and log in with your OTR user ID. Choose "All the Posts" or "Posts other than Forest Guard with Driving Licence / Forest Watcher". Spell your name and your parents' names as they appear in your certificates. Use SAVE AND PROCEED on each page. (para 1.3.3, p.2; Annexure I, para 3.1-3.2, 3.7.1, 3.16, pp.24-30)
- 5
Preview, then decide on the fee concession
Have ready: A count of how many free chances you have already used.
Preview the application (TNPSC emails the preview and sends an SMS). The Yes/No answer on fee concession cannot be changed after you submit, and every application that claims a concession uses one free chance. A false claim means rejection and a one-year ban from TNPSC exams. (Annexure I, para 3.8, 3.9.3-3.9.5, pp.28-29)
- 6
Pay Rs.100 online and submit
Have ready: Net banking, a debit or credit card, or UPI.
The exam fee is Rs.100 plus service charges, paid online by 05.11.2026. Demand drafts and postal orders are rejected. Do not press Back or Refresh while the payment runs. You have applied only after you click SUBMIT; note the Application Number shown at the end. (Annexure I, para 3.8.4, 3.9.1, 3.10, pp.28-29)
- 7
Use the correction window only if you need it
Have ready: Your OTR login and the preview you saved.
Until 05.11.2026 you can edit everything. After that, the correction window is open from 09.11.2026 to 11.11.2026; nothing can be changed after it closes. TNPSC processes the application as it stands at the end. (para 1.3.2, p.1; Annexure I, para 3.11-3.12, pp.29-30)
- 8
Download the hall ticket and keep your proofs ready
Have ready: Originals of every certificate behind a claim you made.
The hall ticket is only on www.tnpscexams.in; it is not posted. Certificates are uploaded later, for onscreen certificate verification, when TNPSC calls for them. Missing the upload deadline means rejection. (para 8.1, p.21; Annexure I, para 3.19.1, p.30)
What gets forms rejected
Each line below is a reason the notice itself gives. Check them once before you pay.
- SSLC register number or other OTR details entered wrongly. (Annexure I, para 2.6.1, p.23)
- A phone photo, selfie, photocopy, or a photo from a family function or tourist spot, or a photo without the printed name and date. (Annexure I, para 3.3-3.4, pp.24-25)
- Photo or signature unclear, or in the wrong size or format. (Annexure I, para 3.6, p.25)
- Fee not paid in time, or sent by demand draft or postal order. (Annexure I, para 3.9.6, 3.10.2, p.29)
- Details in the application that do not match your certificates. (Annexure I, para 3.17, p.30)
- Certificates not uploaded within the time given at onscreen verification. (Annexure I, para 3.19.1, p.30)
- A community certificate that cites the spouse's name instead of the father's or mother's. (Annexure II, para 5.6.4, p.51)
What changes for your category
| If you are | What changes |
|---|---|
| SC, SC (Arunthathiyar), ST | No exam fee. Community certificate from the Taluk Tahsildar (SC, SCA) or the Revenue Divisional Officer or equivalent (ST), citing your father's or mother's name. Only people who belong to Tamil Nadu are treated as SC or ST; others apply as "Others". (Annexure II, para 5, pp.51-52) |
| BC, BC (Muslim), MBC / DC | Three free chances for the fee. These categories count only for people who belong to Tamil Nadu. Many posts have no maximum age if you hold a qualification higher than the minimum. (Annexure II, para 6.2-6.3, p.52; note under para 4.1.2, p.8) |
| Persons with benchmark disability | No exam fee, one exam centre, and only the posts identified for your disability. If you studied only English at board or university level, you may take General English instead of the Tamil test by uploading the disability certificate with the application. (para 4.6, pp.16-17; 6.2, pp.20-21; Annexure I, para 3.7.1, p.25; Annexure II, para 2.2, p.36) |
| Ex-servicemen and destitute widows | Ex-servicemen get two free chances and upload a bonafide certificate and the Pension Payment Order when called; serving personnel finishing their term within a year of the last date can apply. Destitute widows (income up to Rs.8,000 a month) pay no fee and need a certificate from the RDO, Assistant Collector or Sub-Collector. (Annexure II, para 1, pp.33-36; para 3, p.46) |

Tips and tricks
- 1Ask the studio for the TNPSC layout by name: face on top, a white strip below with your name and the date. It is easier to get it printed right than to fix it later.
- 2Copy the SSLC details exactly. If you have more than one mark sheet, use the one from your final, passing attempt. A wrong SSLC detail can get the application rejected at any stage.
- 3Keep your own note of every TNPSC application where you claimed a fee concession. The notice asks you to keep that count yourself instead of relying on the Application History on the dashboard.
- 4Save the preview email. If you use the correction window, it is your record of what you changed.
- 5Pay at least a few days early. The notice warns the site slows down near the last date, and TNPSC does not accept that as a reason for a late application.
