How to self-attest a marksheet

Which marksheets a form usually wants

Recruitment forms use the 10th marksheet or certificate as proof of date of birth, and the 12th or graduation marksheet as proof of eligibility. Some posts want every semester of the degree. Scholarship forms usually ask for the "marksheet of the previous academic year", which means the latest one you have.

What to leave untouched

Keep your signature off the marks table, the grades, your roll number, the board's seal and any hologram. The officer at document verification lays your copy next to the original and reads those parts line by line. Ink across a mark can look like overwriting, and that is a reason to ask you for a fresh copy.

Every sheet you submit carries its own attestation. If the form asks for both sides and the back has printed matter on it, such as the grading scale, sign the back as well.

Several semesters, one upload box

If you only have a provisional marksheet or a result printout, attest that, and check whether the notice accepts it for your stage of the process.

Keeping the scan small and readable

Marksheets are dense with small print. Scan at a normal resolution, then shrink the file with a KB target rather than by making the image smaller. If the portal cap is tight, the grayscale option in the image compressor cuts a lot of size and keeps the marks readable.
