RRB takes your photo live inside the application form, with a webcam or your phone front camera, so there is no photo file to upload. Sit against a pure plain white background and wear non-white clothes, ideally plain and dark, that cover your shoulders and chest. Your head should fill at least half the photo, with nothing from the elbows or below the chest in frame. No cap, mask or glasses, and keep your eyes fully open. A photo of a printed or on-screen picture gets the application rejected. Applications close at 23:59 on 25 November 2026.

JPG/JPEG, 30 to 49 KB, at least 140 × 60 px, scanned at 100 DPI or more. Black ink on white paper in running (joined-up) handwriting, not block or capital letters, centred in a 50 mm × 20 mm box. RRB rejects a thumb impression in place of the signature. Sign the same way at the CBT, CBAT, document verification, medical and appointment.

About the RRB Station Master application form
The RRB Station Master Recruitment (7th CPC Level 6) is conducted by the Railway Recruitment Boards. The online application portal has strict requirements for photo and signature uploads — images outside the specified dimensions or file size are automatically rejected.
The photograph is captured live by the online application (or the authority's app) — you don't upload or resize a photo. The signature should be about 140×60 pixels and between 30 and 49 KB on plain white paper in black ink.
Common reasons RRB Station Master forms get rejected
- A live photo that breaks the photo rules in the notice.
- Live photo taken against a background the notice does not allow.
- A cap or mask in the live photo.
- Wrong file format. The notice asks for JPG.
- Signature on lined or coloured paper instead of plain white.
Tips and tricks for the RRB Station Master upload
- 1You can apply to only one RRB, and the choice is final. Applying to two gets every application rejected, so pick your RRB from Annexure-B before you start.
- 2If you made an RRB account for a 2024, 2025 or 2026 CEN, log in with it. You don't need a new account, and the details in "Create an Account" can never be changed.
- 3Do the live photo against a plain white wall, in a dark shirt, with even light on your face. RRB lets you preview and retake it until you submit.
- 4Scan the signature at 100 DPI or more and crop it so it fills the 50 mm × 20 mm box. If the file comes out under 30 KB or over 49 KB, our signature tool brings it into the 30 to 49 KB window.
- 5Your date of birth must match your Class 10 certificate. RRB disqualifies any mismatch and takes no change request later.
- 6Keep a colour passport photo no older than two months for each stage. RRB asks for one at the CBT, CBAT, document verification and medical.
