DSSSB's OARS instructions ask for a colour postcard-size photo (5 x 7 inch) of the upper half of your body, with your face, both ears and both shoulders clearly visible: 480 x 672 pixels at 96 DPI, JPG or JPEG, 50 KB to 300 KB. Advertisement 04/2026 adds that it must be recent and clear, on a plain white or off-white background, full face, front view, eyes open. Keep a print on photo paper, because the Board can ask you to bring the same photo. Applications for Advertisement 04/2026 close at 11 pm on 4 November 2026.
Sign on white paper with a dark pen, scan it and save it as a JPG of 110 x 140 pixels (DSSSB prints width 110, height 140), up to 40 KB. The form also asks for your left and right thumb impressions, uploaded one at a time, each 110 x 140 pixels, JPG, up to 40 KB. Advertisement 04/2026 says a blurred or illegible photo or signature gets the application rejected.

About the DSSSB application form
The DSSSB recruitment exams (OARS online application) is conducted by the Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board. The online application portal has strict requirements for photo and signature uploads — images outside the specified dimensions or file size are automatically rejected.
For the photograph, you need a colour image of 480×672 pixels with file size between 50 KB and 300 KB, saved in JPG format with a white background. The signature must be 110×140 pixels and up to 40 KB.
Common reasons DSSSB forms get rejected
- File size over 300 KB (most common — phone photos are often 2–5 MB).
- Dimensions not exactly 480×672 pixels.
- Coloured or patterned background — the form asks for a plain white background.
- Wrong file format. The notice asks for JPG.
- Signature on lined or coloured paper instead of plain white.
Tips and tricks for the DSSSB upload
- 1The photo is postcard size, not passport size: the upper half of your body, with your face, both ears and both shoulders showing. A tight passport crop stretched to 480 x 672 will look wrong, so start from a photo taken from about chest up.
- 2DSSSB's signature box is taller than it is wide (110 x 140 pixels). Sign on a small area of the paper and crop close, or your signature ends up as a thin line in the middle of the box.
- 3You upload both thumb impressions, left and right, as separate JPGs of up to 40 KB each. Make them before you open the form.
- 4Only OBC (Delhi) counts as OBC here. If your OBC certificate is from another state, the caste must be on Delhi's OBC list, or you apply as Unreserved. The non-creamy layer certificate must be issued between 1 April 2026 and 4 November 2026.
- 5Your age is counted on 1 June 2026, but your degree, typing or shorthand speed, driving licence and certificates are checked as on 4 November 2026.
- 6Process Server applicants need a light motor vehicle (LMV) driving licence and 2 years of driving without a blemish, and the driving test is held in real traffic.
