For the All India Sainik Schools Entrance Examination (Class VI and IX), the photo should be about 200×230 pixels, 10–200 KB, in JPG format on a white background. The signature should be about 140×60 pixels and 10–50 KB. Resize yours with the tool above. It's free and runs in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.
The notice gives a range or a physical size, not one exact pixel size. Treat these dimensions as a target and check the notes and the quoted notice text below.
NTA prints no pixel size for AISSEE. The limit is 10 to 200 KB, JPG. Use a recent colour passport-size photo with the face filling about 80% of the frame, both ears showing and a white background. No cap or goggles; the child can wear spectacles only if they wear them every day. NTA would like the child's name and the date the photo was taken printed on it. Polaroid and computer-made photos are not accepted. These sizes come from the AISSEE 2026 bulletin; the 2026 form ran from 10 October to 9 November 2025, so check the 2027 bulletin when NTA opens the next form.

The child signs in full, in running handwriting (not capital letters), with a black ink pen on white paper. Scan it as a JPG between 10 and 50 KB; NTA gives no pixel size. The form also asks for a left-hand thumb impression (blue ink on white paper, JPG, 10 to 50 KB; the right thumb if the left is not available) and PDFs of 50 to 300 KB for the birth, domicile and any category or service certificate.

About the AISSEE application form
The All India Sainik Schools Entrance Examination (Class VI and IX) is conducted by the National Testing Agency (for the Sainik Schools Society, Ministry of Defence). The online application portal has strict requirements for photo and signature uploads — images outside the specified dimensions or file size are automatically rejected.
For the photograph, you need a colour image of about 200×230 pixels with file size between 10 KB and 200 KB, saved in JPG format with a white background. The signature should be about 140×60 pixels and between 10 and 50 KB.
Common reasons AISSEE forms get rejected
- File size over 200 KB (most common — phone photos are often 2–5 MB).
- Dimensions far from about 200×230 pixels.
- Coloured or patterned background — the form asks for a plain white background.
- Wrong file format. The notice asks for JPG.
- Signature on lined or coloured paper instead of plain white.
Tips and tricks for the AISSEE upload
- 1Take the photo against a white wall with the face filling most of the frame and both ears showing. NTA asks for about 80% face coverage.
- 2Have the child sign in running handwriting, not capital letters, with a black pen. Blue ink is for the thumb impression, not the signature.
- 3Press the left thumb on a blue ink pad, then on white paper, and scan it as a JPG of 10 to 50 KB. If the left thumb can't be used, the right one is allowed.
- 4The birth, domicile and category certificates go up as PDFs of 50 to 300 KB each, so scan them before you start the form.
- 5Send only one form for each class. If a candidate sends more than one for the same class, NTA rejects all of them.
